State Meet Reporting
Swimmeet.com will again provide results of all State meet swimming and diving events shortly after the conclusion of each event.
Beginning tomorrow, swimmeet.com will post the results from all three diving sessions (i.e. Girls Division I, Girls Division II and Boys) shortly after the conclusion of each session.
On Friday and Saturday, swimmeet.com will post event results from both Prelim and Final sessions shortly after the conclusion of each event.

District Meet Results & State Qualifier Listings
In response to numerous questions I've received regarding the reporting of District meet results and State qualifier listings on swimmeet.com, here's what to expect this weekend:
I've made arrangements to have meet results sent directly to swimmeet.com from both the Southwest District and Northwest District.
Central District and Northeast District meet results are not being sent directly to swimmeet.com. Those results are being reported only to State tournament officials and will be posted on www.lakeerieswimming.com. I'll be getting the Central District and Northeast District meets results from the www.lakeerieswimming.com site for posting on swimmeet.com.
Bottom line - all District meet results will be posted on swimmeet.com this weekend. The speed at which those results are posted on swimmeet.com may be somewhat slower than in years past due to the availability of the results.
State meet qualifiers listings will be posted on swimmeet.com sometime during the day on Sunday.
I'm making every possible effort to insure that complete District meet results and State qualifier listings are posted on swimmeet.com in a timely matter this weekend.

Swimmeet.com Discussion Update
First, I'd like to thank everyone who sent e-mails expressing their views on the exclusion of swimmeet.com to State tournament results data. The vast majority were very supportive and I say "Thank you".
Second, due to the cooperation of a number of people, including State tournament officials, swimmeet.com was able to obtain and post results from 17 of 19 Sectional meets and all 4 District qualifier listings. To those who helped make this possible, I again say "Thank you".
Regarding this weekend and the availability of District meet results and State qualifier listings, Ohio tournament officials have said this information will be made available to swimmeet.com. Exactly when, however, the information will be available is unclear at the moment.
It's possible that swimmeet.com will not be able to post District meet results and State qualifier listings as quickly as in previous years.
Bottom line - swimmeet.com will have access to this weekend's District meet results and State qualifier listings. Exactly when this weekend is not yet known.

Server Problems
Swimmeet.com experienced a severe software-execution congestion problem from around 10:00 to 2:00 PM today which resulted in excessive delays in presenting information and in the actual scrabbling of results information.
This situation has been resolved and swimmeet.com users should again experience acceptable performance.
We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Northwest District, swimmeet.com has been able to obtained the qualifiers for the Northwest District Championships scheduled for February 14-16 at Bowling Green State University.
Those qualifier listings are available now.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Northwest District, swimmeet.com has been able to obtained the results of the Ayersville Sectional, Lima Sectional, Mansfield Sectional, Oak Harbor Sectional and St. Francis Sectional which were conducted yesterday in the Northwest District.

Excluding Swimmeet.com From Results Data
I've received many e-mails this evening inquirying why action was taken against swimmeet.com.
Unfortunately, I wasn't provided with an explanation as to why the OHSAA took the punitive steps it did by excluding swimmeet.com from District tournamnet results data and participation in this year's State meet.
Apparently, it has something to do with swimmeet.com transitioning to a fee-based system.
To react, however, in such a way as to threaten the very existence of swimmeet.com doesn't make any sense - considering the efforts that swimmeet.com has undertaken over the past 6 years in developing a comprehensive informational view of all aspects of the Ohio state tournament.
Without reliable and timely access to tournament results data, swimmeet.com looses much of its appeal and utility. That greatly concerns me.

Transition To Fee-Based Service Postponed
Based upon decisions made today by Ohio state tournament officials to exclude swimmeet.com from District results data and canceling swimmeet.com's services at the State meet, the transition to a member-supported, fee-based service has been postponed.
Without reliable and timely access to tournament results data, I can't in good faith charge users who are expecting a level of performance that swimmeet.com may no longer be able to deliver.
As to what to expect with regards to the availability of Sectional results on swimmeet.com this weekend, I just don't know. I've been told that Sectional results from the Southwest District will be sent to me for posting on swimmeet.com. I'm unsure about the others.
For the moment, things are confusing and I need to let the dust settle a bit before making further decisions about swimmeet.com.

It now appears likely that Lakewood Sectional psych sheets will not be available on swimmeet.com. Apparently, Lakewood Sectional is having computer problems prohibiting them for sending files.

Swimmeet.com Fee-Based Service Discussion
Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who sent e-mails expressing their thoughts about swimmeet.com becoming a fee-based service.
Recent e-mails have been overwhelmingly positive and I sincerely appreciate the kind words of support expressed by many of you. Thank you.
Here's what to expect on Friday, February 8th:
Users attempting to access swimmeet.com will automatically be presented with a User Registration Form. You'll be asked to supply your Name, Street, City, State, Zip, Phone and E-Mail address. Your E-Mail address is important because it will be your swimmeet.com User Name. You'll also be asked to provide a Password and to confirm your Password.
Upon completing your personal information, you'll be asked to select a method of payment - either credit card or personal check.
Swimmeet.com has elected to use PayPal (www.paypal.com) to process all credit card orders. PayPal has a solid reputation in handling online credit card transactions (i.e. eBay is a major customer) and users will find the transaction process to be simple and straight-forward.
Those electing to pay by personal check need to send their $10.00 check to the address shown on the User Registration Form.
Please be assured that no one will be denied immediate and continued access to swimmeet.com - provided they successfully complete the User Registration Form and make proper payment.

Swimmeet.com Fee-Based Service Discussion
Thanks to everyone who sent e-mails today expressing support or displeasure over swimmeet.com's transition to a fee-based service.
The current work load I have in posting Sectional 'psych sheets' prevents me from answering most of them. Rest assured, all of them have been read.
I need, however, to comment on two topics which were frequently raised in today's e-mails.
First, no one will be denied immediate and continued access to swimmeet.com after Friday provided they complete the user registration form and elect to pay the $10.00 annual membership fee by credit card or check.
If paying by credit card, you'll be given immediate and continued access provided the credit card transaction is approved. If paying by check, you'll also be given immediate and continued access. If your check doesn't arrive in 7 days after completing the registration form, your continued access will be denied.
Second, many people questioned why swimmeet.com can't generate advertising revenues sufficient to subsidize the service. Unfortunately, I've tried many times to attract significant advertising revenues and have failed. Swimmeet.com routinely delivers millions of pages a month to a very attractive demographic audience and, yet, I've found no serious-minded advertisers and/or sponsors.
The current military ad banners running on swimmeet.com are not officially endorsed by the Navy, Army, Air Force or Marines. It's simply a patriotic decision on my part to support our armed forces (i.e. my son, Trevor Dumond is currently on active duty in the Navy).
If swimmeet.com really has value amongst its user-base, then someone within that user-base needs to come forward and help me get serious corporate sponsorship or advertisers. The only alternative is to charge user fees.

Beginning on Friday, February 8th, swimmeet.com will become a fee-based service with an annual membership fee of $10.00.
After 6 years of continued growth and usage, swimmeet.com is now exceeding the resources available to it as a 'free' service.
On Friday, users will be given the opportunity to become a member by choosing a UserID and Password and paying a $10.00 annual membership fee by credit card or personal check.
The decision to transition to a fee-based membership service helps insure the continued survival of swimmeet.com.
