
Thackston has clearly demonstrated the ability to perform at an extremely high level in the pool and in the classroom.
The St. Xavier sophomore's times generally speak for themselves, including the fastest 400 Free Relay split by any sophomore and any St. X swimmer (43.11) in OHSAA history.
His grades are exemplary, carrying an all "A" average with a 4.55 GPA, as he takes a high number of advanced classes.
As an athlete, he possesses a strong work ethic, a caring attitude, and respect for his coaches, teammates and fellow competitors. Training primarily with the AquaBomber distance group, he is a seven time All-American and State Champion in the 500 Freestyle. His efforts at Canton have placed him on the podium following each of his eight swims. He has achieved multiple Junior National cuts, ranging from the 50 to the 500. He represents the Cincinnati Marlins in U.S.A. Swimming.
Thackston is the son of Kate and Dr. Jason McMullan. He attended St. Bernard – Elmwood Place Junior High prior to enrollment at St. Xavier.
