Cincinnati St. Xavier
- The sophomore led St. Xavier to one of the most dominating team titles in OHSAA history. He was state champion in both the 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 400 Freestyle Relay. Moreover, he blew away the state record in each event with times of 1:37.38, 44.66, and 3:03.25, respectively. Including a 20.96 in-season 50 Freestyle swim, Hudepohl had national ranks of 13th, 2nd, and 4th in the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyle.

- The senior was, like Hudepohl, also one of the very best swimmers in the entire country this year. He won the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke with the 2nd best time in Ohio history in each. His 1:49.47 time in the 200 IM and 56.29 time in the 100 Breaststroke were the 1st and 4th best times in the nation this year.

- The junior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke and finished runner-up in the 200 IM. His time of 1:52.08 in the 200 IM was the 6th fastest in the nation this year.

- The senior gets a special inclusion into the all-star team as he brought back an older era where state level swimmers can also be divers, and vice-versa. He was runner-up in Diving this year, finished 5th in the 100 Butterfly, and swam the butterfly leg on St. Xavier’s state record setting 200 Medley Relay which at 1:34.72, won the event by 4 seconds.

- The junior had arguably the greatest prep season ever, setting 5 state records and 3 national records. His individual national record times were 1:34.96 in the 200 Freestyle; 43.54 in the 100 Freestyle; 20.01 in the 50 Freestyle leading off the 200 Freestyle Relay; and he also set a state record in the 500 Freestyle with an in-season time of 4:24.49. After anchoring X’s 400 Freestyle Relay to victory, he became the first Ohio swimmer ever to win 4 events at the state meet.

- The junior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke, 4th in the 200 IM, and was part of St. Xavier’s state champion 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. That medley relay set a new state record and his 100 Backstroke time of 49.93 was 2nd best in Ohio history and 7th best in the nation this year.

- The senior led St. Xavier to their 2nd ever national team title with a victory in the 50 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 400 Freestyle Relay. His relay leadoff times of 20.01 and 43.43 tied (his own) and set a new national record, were obviously the top times in the country, and both relays finished with state record times. He had additional national rankings of 6th and 13th with in-season 500 and 200 Freestyle times of 4:28 and 1:39.

- The senior repeated as state champion in both the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM. His 55.76 time in the 100 Breaststroke was 2nd best in Ohio history and his 1:49.88 in the 200 IM was the 3rd best. Those times were also ranked 3rd and 7th in the nation this year, respectively.

- The senior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke, runner-up in the 200 IM, and part of St. Xavier’s state title 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. The 100 Backstroke and both relays were done in state record time, with his 49.64 finish in the 100 Backstroke being 3rd best in the nation.

- The senior was just runner-up in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, but he had national rankings of 6th in the 50 Freestyle with a 20.57, 9th in the 100 Backstroke with a 50.30, and 5th in the 100 Freestyle with a 44.69 from leading off Solon’s 400 Freestyle Relay team.

- The junior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle and finished 5th in the 100 Freestyle.

- The senior and now 4x all-star just missed out on becoming the first boys’ swimmer in Ohio history to win the same event for 4 straight years after he was runner-up in the 500 Freestyle. Harms was also 4th in the 200 Freestyle.
1993
- Scott Claypool (3)

Hudson
- The junior was state champion in both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, successfully defending his state title in the latter. His 1:38.06 time in the 200 Freestyle and 44.43 time in the 100 Freestyle were both the 2nd best times in Ohio history. Those times, plus his 20.83 swim in the 50 Freestyle gave him national rankings of 4th, 3rd, and 14th, respectively.

- The sophomore broke out at the right time for St. Xavier, leading them to their 4th straight team victory after he successfully defended his 100 Butterfly state title, was runner-up in the 200 Freestyle, and anchored St. Xavier’s state title winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. His 1:38.12 time in the 200 Freestyle and 49.56 time in the 100 Butterfly were both the 5th best times in the nation this year.

- The senior was state champion in the 200 IM and finished 3rd in the 100 Freestyle. His time in that 100 Freestyle of 45.25 was the 14th best time in the nation this year.

- The junior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly (3rd straight), and anchored St. Xavier’s 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams to victory. That made him the 2nd swimmer in Ohio history to win all 4 events at the state meet. Wales’ 200 Freestyle time of 1:37.84 was 2nd best in the nation and Ohio history, his 100 Butterfly time of 49.32 was 4th best in the nation, and his anchor times in the 200 and 400 Freestyle relays were 20.12 and 43.68, respectively.

- The junior was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and runner-up in the 200 IM. His 100 Breaststroke time of 57.45 was a Top-16 national time.

- The senior was state champion in the 100 Butterfly over 3x defending champion Dod Wales, finished 4th in the 100 Freestyle, and was part of Upper Arlington’s state title winning 200 Medley and Freestyle Relay teams. His 49.2 time in the 100 Butterfly was 3rd fastest in the nation this year while his 20.80 leadoff time on the 200 Freestyle Relay gave him the 13th best 50 Freestyle time in the nation.

His 200 Freestyle time of 1:39.1 was the 6th best time in the nation, his 49.31 100 Butterfly time was 4th best, and his anchor leg on the 400 Freestyle Relay clinched the 6th straight state title for the Bombers. Wales graduates with a record 12 titles to his name (5 individual, 7 relay).

- The senior tied a record by winning the same 2 events for a third consecutive season after his championships in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. His 100 Backstroke was the national title time this year at 48.67 while his 200 IM was a 1:49.82 and the 7th best time in the country. This was the 3rd straight year he broke the 100 Backstroke state record, and his 6 total career titles ties Dale Hudson for most individual wins in state history.

- The junior tied Kevin Butler for the state title in the 100 Freestyle and was 3rd in the 200 Freestyle.

- The senior took down defending champion Rob Henikman in the 100 Breaststroke and his best time this year of 56.44 was 6th best in the nation.

- The senior led St. Xavier to a state title in the 200 Medley Relay and finished 2nd and 3rd in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, respectively. His 100 Freestyle preliminary time of 45.40 was the 11th best time in the nation this year.

- The freshman was state champion in the 100 Butterfly with the 14th best time in the nation. He is the first boys’ freshman with a Top-16 national time in the Gold Star era.

- The senior was runner-up in the 100 Backstroke, 3rd in the 100 Butterfly, and was part of Worthington’s state title winning 200 Freestyle Relay.

- The senior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle and his 200 Freestyle (1:38.66) and 100 Freestyle (45.23) times were the 9th and 8th best in the country this year, respectively. He overcame a disqualification in the 100 Freestyle at finals by swimming the clinching leg on the 400 Freestyle Relay with a 44.8 split that won the meet for St. Xavier.

- The senior was state champion in the 100 Butterfly, runner-up in the 100 Backstroke, and was part of St. Xavier’s state title 400 Freestyle Relay team and runner-up 200 Medley Relay team. His 100 Butterfly time of 49.83 was a Top-16 nationally ranked swim.

- The junior was runner-up in the 500 Freestyle, 5th in the 200 Freestyle, and was part of St. Xavier’s state title clinching 400 Freestyle Relay, running down his St. Francis rival on the 3rd leg.
- Several other swimmers scored enough to usually make all-star team. Euans and Gustin were selected as all-stars despite scoring less points (31) than Bateman, Ketchum, and Kirk (32). Reasons were: having nationally ranked swims (Euans) and being a key component of the winning team’s close victory (Gustin).

Cincinnati Sycamore
- The sophomore was state champion in the 200 and 500 Freestyle with 1:37.84 and 4:25.68 times that were ranked 2nd and 3rd in the nation, respectively. Both times were also 2nd best in Ohio history and the 500 Freestyle was one of the greatest races in state history and a new meet record time. He also split 44.55 on Sycamore’s 400 Freestyle Relay.

- The sophomore was state champion in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle, swimming times of 20.40 and 45.07. Those times were 3rd and 5th best in the nation this year, and the 50 Freestyle was 3rd best in state history. He also split a state record 19.64 anchoring Centerville’s 200 Freestyle Relay.

- The junior led St. Francis to their 2nd team title in 2 years, repeating as state champion in the 200 IM and finishing runner-up in the 100 Butterfly with times of 1:48.96 and 49.97 (prelims). His 200 IM time beat Mark Rhodenbaugh’s legendary state record by a hundredth of a second and was 4th best in the nation this year, while his 100 Butterfly was . He also led St. Francis to state titles in the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays with best split times of 20.3 and 44.8.

- The junior finished runner-up to Ketchum in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle but did so with the 6th and 4th best times in the nation, respectively at 1:38.93 and 4:25.74. That 500 Freestyle time was faster than David Fairbanks’ old state record from 1985.

- The sophomore was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and finished 4th in the 200 IM. Both of his swims were Top-16 nationally, with his 100 Breaststroke time of 55.64 being ranked 4th. That 100 Breaststroke time was 0.20 off Glenn Mills’ 1980 state record.

- The junior reclaimed his state title in the 100 Butterfly and was 8th in the 200 IM. His 100 Butterfly best time of 49.11 was the 5th best time in the nation this year.

- The senior was runner-up in both the 200 IM and 100 Freestyle. His 200 IM time of 1:49.44 was 5th best nationally and included a freestyle split of 24.96 that would have been the 2nd fastest split at the Division I NCAA Championships!

- The junior successfully defended his state title in the 100 Backstroke with a 50.51 time that was ranked 15th nationally. He was also 3rd in the 100 Butterfly and was X’s best swimmer on their runner-up 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.

- The senior was 3rd in both the 200 IM and 500 Freestyle, and he was part of St. Francis’ state title winning 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. His 1:50.91 preliminary time in that 200 IM was a top 10 national time.

- The junior was runner-up in the 50 Freestyle, 3rd in the 100 Backstroke, and was part of St. Francis’ state title winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.
1999
- Tony Kurth (3)

Toledo St. Francis
- The senior was national swimmer of the year, becoming the first Ohioan to win 4 events at the state meet while setting a record in each. His 200 IM at 1:47.70 broke his own state mark, his 48.79 prelim time in the 100 Butterfly was a new state meet record, and he anchored both of St. Francis’ Freestyle Relays to state records. His anchor times on the relays were 19.81 and 43.95, and that 400 Freestyle Relay set a new national record at 3:01.80. His national ranks in the 200 IM, 100 Butterfly, and 100 Freestyle (44.30 leading off the prelim relay) were ranked 1st, 4th, and 2nd in the nation, respectively.

Cincinnati Sycamore
- The junior repeated as state champion in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle. His 1:37.29 in the 200 Freestyle was the 2nd best in Ohio history and the top time in the nation this year, while his 4:22.73 in the 500 Freestyle was a new state record and the 2nd best time in the nation. He also split 44.40 on Sycamore’s 400 Freestyle Relay.

- The junior was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and finished runner-up in the 200 IM. His 100 Breaststroke time of 55.58 was 5th in the nation and 2nd best in Ohio history while his 200 IM time of 1:48.63 was better than the old state record and 2nd in the nation. His 29-second breaststroke split on the 200 IM was a state record and better than even most college swimmers this year, and he tied his own state record with a 25.1 breaststroke split on the 200 Medley Relay.

Cincinnati St. Xavier
- The sophomore was state champion in the 100 Backstroke, runner-up in the 100 Butterfly, and was part of St. Xavier’s state record setting 200 Medley Relay. His 49.14 time in the 100 Backstroke was 4th in the nation, his 49.50 in the 100 Butterfly was 9th, and his 21.71 butterfly split on the 200 Medley Relay was a state record.

Cleveland St. Ignatius
- The junior was state champion in the 100 Freestyle and finished 3rd in the 100 Butterfly. His respective times of 45.23 and 49.54 were 9th and 12th in the nation.
- Ed Matkovich (1)
Upper Arlington
- The sophomore was runner-up in the 100 Freestyle and 4th in the 100 Backstroke. His best season times of 44.98 in the 100 Freestyle, 50.70 in the 100 Backstroke, and 20.53 in the 50 Freestyle were 7th, 14th, and 5th best in the country.

Toledo St. Francis
- The senior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle, finished 5th in the 100 Backstroke, and was part of St. Francis’ national record setting 400 Freestyle Relay (45.12 split). His 20.74 time in the 50 Freestyle was 9th best in the country this year.
- Jim Pullin (3)
Hawken
- The senior was runner-up in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle. His times of 1:39.86 and 4:29.34 were 12th and 11th best in the nation this year.
- Ryan Earhart (3)
Cincinnati St. Xavier
- The senior was runner-up in the 100 Backstroke, 4th in the 200 Freestyle, and swam the backstroke leg on St. Xavier’s state record setting 200 Medley Relay. His 100 Backstroke time of 50.21 was 11th best in the country.

Ashland
- The junior was runner-up in the 50 Freestyle and finished 3rd in the 100 Freestyle.
