  1. Steven Zimmerman (1)

  2. The junior was the only double-event winner this year, taking first in both the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. His 100 Backstroke best time of 49.08 was ranked 11th in the nation this season.
  3. Alex Miller (1)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  4. The senior was state champion in the 500 Freestyle and runner-up in the 200 Freestyle.
  5. Jacob Schuster (1)

  6. The senior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle and runner-up in the 100 Freestyle.
  7. Nick Schuttinger (1)
    Columbus St. Charles
  8. The senior was state champion in the 100 Butterfly and finished 3rd in the 100 Freestyle. His 48.74 time in the 100 Butterfly was ranked 11th in the nation.
  9. John Spangler (1)
    Upper Arlington
  10. The senior was state champion in the 100 Freestyle and was 5th in the 50 Freestyle.
  11. Sandy Whitaker (2)

  12. The senior was runner-up in the 100 Butterfly and 3rd in the 100 Backstroke. His season best 49.16 time in the 100 Butterfly was a Top-16 swim.

  14. The senior was runner-up in the 200 IM and finished 5th in the 100 Breaststroke.
  15. Mike Gaudiani (1)

  16. The senior was runner-up in the 500 Freestyle and finished 6th in the 200 Freestyle. More importantly, he led University to their first ever (combined division scoring) team title.

2011

  1. Steven Zimmerman (2)

  2. The senior repeated as state champion in both the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. His 200 IM time of 1:49.39 was 15th in the country while his 48.30 time in the 100 Backstroke was 4th in the country and 2nd best in Ohio history. He’s the only swimmer this year with a past all-star appearance.

  4. The senior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke, and was part of University’s state titlew inning 200 Medley Relay team. His 55.54 time in the 100 Breaststroke was 11th in the country while his 20.50 time in the 50 Freestyle was ranked 17th.

  6. The senior led St. Francis to the best team finish this year (combined format) and was state champion in the 200 Freestyle, runner-up in the 100 Freestyle, and was part of St. Francis’ state title winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.

  8. The senior was state champion in the 100 Freestyle and runner-up in the 50 Freestyle. His 44.70 time in that 100 Freestyle was ranked 8th nationally.

  2. The junior successfully defended his state title in the 100 Butterfly and was part of all 3 Shawnee relays, including their state title winning 200 Freestyle Relay. On that, he led off with a 50 Freestyle time of 19.62 that broke Joe Hudepohl’s record by 0.39, was the top time in the nation this year, and was 0.19 off the national record. His 100 Butterfly time of 48.26 was 8th best in the nation this year and 3rd in Ohio history, while his leadoff leg on the 400 Freestyle Relay was a 44.03 100 Freestyle that gave him the nation’s 3rd best in that event and Ohio history. He also had a 22.50 backstroke leadoff leg on the 200 Medley Relay, the 2nd fastest in Ohio history.
  3. Dan DiSalle (1)

  4. The senior was the only double-event winner this year taking the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle for runner-up St. Francis.
  5. Jack Pohlman (1)
    Beavercreek
  6. The senior was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke, 12th in the 200 Freestyle, and was part of Beavercreek’s state title winning 200 Medley Relay. His time of 55.27 in that 100 Breaststroke was 5th best in the country this year and 3rd best in Ohio history. His 24.95 split on that medley relay was 4th best in Ohio history.

  8. The senior was state champion in the 200 IM and runner-up in the 100 Backstroke. His 200 IM time of 1:49.23 was Top-16 in the nation.

  2. The sophomore was state champion in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. His 54.99 time in the 100 Breaststroke was 11th in the nation and 2nd best in Ohio history, while his 1:48.49 time in the 200 IM was 13th in the nation and 4th best in state history. He also had a 24.8 breaststroke leg in Hudson’s 200 Medley Relay that was 2nd best in Ohio history.

  4. The senior was state champion in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. His 47.95 time in the 100 Butterfly was 13th best nationally while his 48.92 time in the 100 Backstroke was 15th best in the nation.

  6. The senior was state champion in the 500 Freestyle, runner-up in the 200 Freestyle, and led off St. Xavier’s state title winning 200 Freestyle Relay.

  8. The senior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle for the 2nd straight year and finished 2nd in the 500 Freestyle.

  20. The senior led runner-up St. Ignatius with a 3rd place 100 Breaststroke finish, a 5th place 200 IM finish, and was part of their state title winning 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.

2014

  2. The freshman was state champion in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle Relay, and runner-up in the 200 Freestyle Relay. His 1:35.84 in the 200 Freestyle was far and away the 2nd best time in state history and was ranked 4th in the nation this year while his 100 Freestyle time of 44.26 was ranked 16th nationally. He also split 19.84 on the anchor leg of the 200 Freestyle Relay, and he’s the first boys’ freshman to win multiple individual events at the state meet in the Gold Star era.

  2. The senior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke and finished 2nd in the 200 Freestyle. His 48.28 in the 100 Backstroke and 1:35.66 in the 200 Freestyle were both Top 5 in the country this year, and were 4th and 3rd best in Ohio history, respectively.
  3. Ross Palazzo (3)

  4. The senior won his 3rd straight title in the 100 Breaststroke and finished runner-up in the 200 IM. His 54.35 time in the 100 Breaststroke was a new state record and 5th best in the nation, while his 200 IM time of 1:47.54 was 15th best nationally and under the old state record of 1:47.70.
  5. Mark Andrew (1)
    Middletown
  6. The senior was state champion in the 200 IM, taking down 2x defending champion Palazzo, and he finished 2nd in the 500 Freestyle. His 200 IM time of 1:46.63 broke Tony Kurth’s 1999 record by over a second and was 6th fastest in the country this year.
  7. Grant House (2)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  8. The sophomore successfully defended his state title in the 200 Freestyle, again posting the state’s 2nd best time ever at 1:35.28. That time was 3rd fastest in the country this year. He also won the 400 Freestyle Relay for state champion St. Xavier and finished 2nd in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle Relay.

  10. The senior was state champion in the 100 Freestyle and runner-up in the 50 Freestyle.
  11. Kalvin Koethke (1)
    Grove City
  12. The junior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle and 4th in the 100 Freestyle. His 20.18 best time was 5th best in the country this year.
  13. Mason Miller (3)
    Westerville North
  14. The senior makes his 3rd straight all-star team after successfully defending his 100 Butterfly state title and finishing 5th in the 100 Freestyle. His best time of 48.48 in the 100 Butterfly was 15th best in the nation this year.
  15. Tommy Cope (1)

  16. The junior was runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke and 3rd in the 200 IM.
  17. Jackson Higgins (1)
    Dayton Oakwood
  18. The senior was 3rd in both the 200 and 500 Freestyle (and D2 champion in each). His 1:37.57 in the 200 Freestyle was a Top-16 time.

  20. The sophomore was state champion in the 500 Freestyle and 9th in the 200 Freestyle. His 4:25.35 time in the 500 Freestyle was a Top-16 time.

    University
  22. The senior was runner-up in the 100 Backstroke and 6th best in the 100 Butterfly, scoring 30 points that occasionally warrants all-star consideration, but it’s notable that he was division-2 state champion in both of his events.

2016

  1. Tommy Cope (2)
    Vandalia Butler
  2. The senior was state champion in both the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. His 1:47.20 best time in the 200 IM was 5th best in the nation this year, and at finals, he took down state record setter Cooper Hodge. Also, his 100 Breaststroke time of 54.87 was 12th in the country this year. Both of his swims were 3rd best in Ohio history and he also had a 20.72 time in the 50 Freestyle (leading off the 200 Freestyle Relay) that gave him Ohio’s 4th best time in that event this season.
  3. Kalvin Koethke (2)
    Grove City
  4. The senior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle and 2nd in the 100 Freestyle. His 19.97 time was 2nd best in Ohio history and the nation this year.
  5. Grant House (3)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  6. The junior was state champion in the 500 Freestyle and runner-up in the 200 Freestyle. His times of 4:24.61 and 1:36.93 were both 12th best in the nation this year and he’s notably never lost an individual event at the division 1 level. He also led his team to victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay and a runner-up finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay, setting a state record in the former.
  7. David Madej (1)
    Brecksville Broadview Heights
  8. The sophomore was state champion in the 100 Freestyle, finished 3rd in the 50 Freestyle, and was the anchor on Broadview Heights’ state champion 200 Freestyle Relay and runner-up 400 Freestyle Relay. His 44.41 time in the 100 Freestyle was 9th in the country, and his 19.98 anchor split on the 200 Freestyle relay ensured a new state record (1:21.78) and the top time in the nation this year.
  9. Luke Sobolewski (1)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  10. The junior was state champion in the 100 Butterfly (48.59) and runner-up in the 100 Backstroke (48.75). He also led St. Xavier to the state title and a new state record (1:30.40) in the 200 Medley Relay, swimming the butterfly leg in 21.44.

  12. The sophomore was state champion in the 200 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Butterfly. His 1:36.75 time in the 200 Freestyle was 10th best in the country.

  14. The senior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke and 3rd in the 100 Freestyle.
  15. Cooper Hodge (1)
    Cincinnati Moeller
  16. The senior was runner-up in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 Backstroke. His preliminary time in the 200 IM of 1:46.58 set a new state record and was 3rd best in the nation this season.

  18. The junior was 3rd in the 200 Freestyle and 4th in the 500 Freestyle.

  20. The senior was 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and 5th in the 100 Butterfly.

  22. The junior was 3rd in the 100 Backstroke and 7th in the 100 Butterfly but his season best time of 48.29 in the 100 Backstroke was best in Ohio this year and 12th in the nation.

2017

  1. Cody Bybee (2)
    Bellbrook
  2. The junior was state champion in both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. He broke Joe Hudepohl’s legendary 1:34.96 mark in the 200 Freestyle with a 1:34.55 that was the 2nd best swim in the nation this year. His 46.97 time in the 100 Butterfly broke another former national record holder’s mark: Austin Staab’s 47.10. That swim was 3rd best in the country this year. He also set a state record with a 20.92 butterfly leg on Bellbrook’s 200 Medley Relay, and his 43.78 time leading off the 400 Freestyle Relay was 5th best in the nation and 2nd best in Ohio history.
  3. Grant House (4)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  4. The senior led St. Xavier to their 4th national team title after winning the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay, and finishing runner-up in the 200 Freestyle. His 4:19.15 time in the 500 Freestyle broke David Mosko’s 10-year-old state record, while his 1:34.59 in the 200 Freestyle broke Joe Hudepohl’s 26-year-old team mark. Both swims were ranked 3rd in the nation this year. He also had All-American times in 3 other events, highlighted by his in-season 1:47.29 time in the 200 IM that was 11th best in the country. Both relays also set new state records with the 2:58.13 400 Freestyle Relay being the #1 in the nation this year.
  5. Luke Sobolewski (2)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  6. The senior was state champion in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay, and runner-up in the 100 Butterfly. His 48.23 time in the 100 Backstroke was 6th best in the country this year and both the 200 Medley Relay (1:29.66) and 400 Freestyle Relay (2:58.13) were state records, the latter being the #1 time in the nation this year.
  7. Sem Andreis (1)
    New Philadelphia
  8. The senior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle and runner-up in the 100 Freestyle. His 20.16 time in the 50 Freestyle was 8th best in the country this year.
  9. David Madej (2)
    Brecksville Broadview Heights
  10. The junior successfully defended his state title in the 100 Freestyle and finished 2nd in the 50 Freestyle. His 100 Freestyle time of 44.17 was 10th best in the country this year.
  11. Parker Neri (1)
    Upper Arlington
  12. The senior was 3rd best in Ohio in the 200 and 500 Freestyle this year. He had national rankings this year of 7th in the 200 Freestyle (1:35.23), 9th in the 500 Freestyle (4:23.03), and 15th in the 100 Freestyle (44.33).
  13. Jason Mathews (1)
    Pickerington North
  14. The junior was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 6th in the 200 IM. His 100 Breaststroke time of 54.87 was 13th best in the country and 3rd best in Ohio history.

  16. The senior was runner-up in the 050 Freestyle and 3rd in the 200 IM.
  17. Ben Brooks (1)

  18. The senior was 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and 4th in the 200 IM.
  19. Nicholas Perera (1)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  20. After winning the 200 IM, 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 400 Freestyle relay, the junior became the first swimmer in state history to win all 4 of his events with 3 of them being relays, all 3 of which set state records.

  22. Both swimmers were critical components to St. Xavier’s national title. Leibson was runner-up in the 200 IM and his prelim time was #1 at the state meet. He also finished 7th in the 100 Freestyle. Grender was 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, had the 2nd best 100 Backstroke time in Ohio this year and set an unofficial OHSAA record in the Mile in-season. Leibson was part of the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relay while Grender was part of all 3 record setting relays.

2018

  1. Cody Bybee (3)
    Bellbrook
  2. The senior was state champion in the 200 Freestyle for the 3rd straight year and 100 Butterfly for the 2nd straight. His state record 1:34.02 time in that 200 Freestyle was 4th in the nation, his 47.36 in the 100 Butterfly was 7th, and his leadoff leg on the 400 Freestyle relay of 43.75 was the nation’s 6th best 100 Freestyle time. After factoring in his 20.90 time on Bellbrook’s 200 Medley Relay, he graduates having set 5 state records in 2 years and becomes just the 3rd swimmer in state history to score 40+ national points in multiple seasons.
  3. Justin Grender (1)
    Cincinnati St. Xavier
  4. The senior led St. Xavier to the state title with wins in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay, and was 2nd in the 50 Freestyle. His 100 Backstroke preliminary time of 47.36 broke Jayme Cramer’s 2001 state record and was the 6th best time in the nation. His 50 Freestyle best time of 20.13 was 12th best in the nation and his 43.38 anchor leg on the 400 Freestyle Relay was tops in recorded Ohio history. He graduates with 7 relay state titles, tying Dod Wales for the all-time record.
  5. Carson Foster (1)
    Cincinnati Sycamore
  6. The sophomore was state champion in the 500 Freestyle and runner-up in the 200 Freestyle. His 1:34.19 time in the 200 Freestyle set a division 1 state record and was 5th best in the nation, while his 4:20.21 time in the 500 Freestyle was 8th best nationally. Both times were 2nd best in Ohio history. He also set a state record leading off Sycamore’s 200 Medley Relay with a 21.99 backstroke split and anchored their 400 Freestyle Relay in 43.7.
  7. David Madej (1)

  8. The senior was state champion in the 50 Freestyle and runner-up in the 100 Butterfly. His 100 Butterfly time of 47.48 was the division 1 champion time and 10th best in the nation, while his 20.33 and 44.27 times in the 50 and 100 Freestyle were also All-American.

  10. The senior was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 4th in the 200 IM. He had an in-season swim of 53.89 in the 100 Breaststroke that set a new state record and was 3rd best in the country this year.
  11. Nicholas Perera (2)

  12. The senior successfully defended his state title in the 200 IM, was runner-up in the 500 Freestyle, and was part of St. Xavier’s state title winning 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. His 1:47.42 time in the 200 IM was Top-16 nationally.

2019

  1. Carson Foster (2)
    Cincinnati Sycamore
  2. The senior had one of the best seasons in Ohio history, winning all 4 of his events at the state meet and setting 4 state records and 1 national record. Led by his record 21.4 backstroke split, Sycamore won the 200 Medley Relay in state record time that gave them the #1 national rank this year. Foster then swam a 1:32.99 in the 200 Freestyle to set a new national record. His 46.28 in the 100 Backstroke was another state record and national title swim, and his anchor leg on the 400 Freestyle Relay of 43.07 gave Sycamore another title. Foster also had a 43.51 time in the 100 Freestyle this year which was the nation’s 5th best. He also joins the exclusive club of having won 3 separate individual events, and his 54 national level points was 2nd best in state history (Hudepohl twice, tied with Dale Hudson).
  3. Jake Foster (1)
    Cincinnati Sycamore
  4. The senior was state champion in all 4 of his events and set 3 state records. His 1:43.99 in the 200 IM broke the old state record by almost 3 seconds, and his 53.53 time in the 100 Breaststroke was almost a half-second better than the prior mark. Those times were ranked 1st and 4th in the nation this year. Foster also split a 23.86 on Sycamore’s state title 200 Medley Relay, both of which were state records. That 200 Medley Relay was ranked 1st in the nation this year and Sycamore’s state title 400 Freestyle Relay was ranked 5th.
  5. Adam Chaney (2)

  6. The junior was state champion in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle, taking Joe Hudepohl’s name off the state record slot in that event for the first time since 1989. His 19.64 in the 50 Freestyle was 2nd in the nation and Ohio history, and his 43.27 in the 100 Freestyle was ranked 1st nationally. He also split a state record 42.6 anchoring Mason’s 400 Freestyle Relay.

  8. The junior led St. Xavier to their 5th straight team title (combined format) and was state champion in the 100 Butterfly and 200 Freestyle Relay. His 47.21 time in the 100 Butterfly was ranked 4th nationally, and his relay contributions led to 2nd, 1st, and 2nd place finishes for St. Xavier on the state level, and 2nd, 6th, and 9th place on the national level. His relay splits were 21.1 (butterfly), 19.6, and 43.5.

  10. The junior was state champion in the 500 Freestyle and 9th in the 100 Backstroke. His 500 Freestyle best time of 4:22.17 was ranked 6th in the nation this year.

  12. The junior was runner-up in the 100 Backstroke and 4th in the 200 Freestyle. His 47.81 in the 100 Backstroke was the nation’s 9th best time this season.

  14. The senior was runner-up in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle. His 20.14 in the 50 Freestyle was a Top-16 national time.

  16. The senior was runner-up in 200 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Freestyle.

    Cincinnati Sycamore
  18. The junior was runner-up in the 200 IM, 4th in the 100 Freestyle, and was part of Sycamore’s state title winning 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams, the former of which set a state record and was 1st in the nation this year.
