swimmeet.com is seeking comments regarding a proposed scholarship racing series that will provide substantial scholarships to the top 10 male and female high school swimmers during the Ohio high school swimming season.

Recognizing the tremendous focus, dedication and sacrifice required to perform at a high level over a cruelling three month high school season, swimmeet.com wants to reward this effort by making substanstial scholarships available to assist swimmers in their postsecondary education without the requirement of continuing competitive swimming after high school graduation.

swimmeet.com will use its Power Points 100 ranking system to determine which swimmers receive scholarships.

The proposed scholarship racing series will be structured as follows:

  1. Consists of eight races contested during the course of the current Ohio high school swimming season.
  2. Races are the eight individual high school swimming events (short course yards):
    • 200 Freestyle
    • 200 Individual Medley
    • 50 Freestyle
    • 100 Butterfly
    • 100 Freestyle
    • 500 Freestyle
    • 100 Backstroke
    • 100 Breaststroke
  3. Events must be swum during the current Ohio high school season.
  4. Events must be swum in a competitive high school race and cannot be swum in intrasquad meets or time-trials.
  5. Each event can be swum any number of times during the season with the best time being used.
  6. Converted short course meter times are not eligible.
  7. Power Points 100 is used to score the scholarship racing series.
  8. The top ten places in the season ending Power Points 100 will be awarded the following scholarships:
    • 1st - $10,000
    • 2nd - $7,000
    • 3rd - $5,000
    • 4th - $4,000
    • 5th - $3,000
    • 6th - $2,000
    • 7th - $1,500
    • 8th - $1,000
    • 9th - $750
    • 10th - $500
  9. Scholarships will accumulate until high school graduation.
  10. Scholarships will be released upon high school graduation and paid directly to a postsecondary institution.
  11. Only Ohio high school swimmers can participate.
  12. Implementation planned for the 2026-2027 Ohio high school swimming season.

The obvious challenge in implementing the proposed scholarship racing series is the establishment of a self-sustaining financial instrument that will fund these scholarships.

swimmeet.com is requesting comments on the proposed scholarship racing series and, in particular, comments on how best to create the financial foundation necessary to make the proposed scholarship racing series a reality.
