The 2024 Roosenburg Invitational is scheduled for December 7, 2024 at Ohio University.

Selinde Roosenburg

The Roosenburg Invitational is held in memory of Selinde Roosenburg, a former Bulldog swimmer and 2018 graduate of Athens High School, who died March 23, 2021 following a UTV accident during a prescribed fire at Richland Furnace State Forest.

Selinde grew up on a tree farm in Athens Countyand loved the forest. She was a student at OSU and had been granted acceptance into the Fire Science program at Idaho State University. She had dreams of pursuing a career in wildland fire and forestry. She was looking forward to pursuing her passion and bringing her knowledge back to southeast Ohio. Selinde's desire and eagerness to learn about prescribed fire's role in forest conservation was evident while working for the Ohio Division of Forestry.

The Selinde Roosenburg Memorial Fund has been established in Selinde's name to purchase forests and fields of southeast Ohio to protect them for future generations.
