Here's a statement from Classic Meet Management (5:00 AM) regarding weather and this weekend's Classic:

Saturday AM prelims for swimming and diving are taking place as scheduled.

Please stay in contact with the coaches for any updates.

We will also post on swimmeet.com as needed.

Note - Due the possibility of inclement weather for Saturday evening, we are encouraging swimmers scheduled to swim finals in the 400 IM and 500 Freestyle to swim those events in prelims. A decision on finals will be made later Saturday.

At this time, Princeton will start swimming Sunday at 11:00 AM and Mason will start swimming Sunday at 12:00 PM.

Princeton Sunday Prelims

Here's a statement from Gary Tameris (Princeton Meet Director) regarding a schedule change for Sunday prelims at Princeton:

Princeton SW Classic prelims for Sunday, January 20th has been put on a two (2) hour delay for the meet.

Warm-ups are now beginning with Session #1 @ 9:00 AM with the meet beginning @ 11:00 AM

Thought process is this will give everyone more opportunity to make this meet run. I will still put out an email to all involved by 7:30 AM with the final decision of the meet.

Weather Update

Here's a statement from Tom Schoborg (Classic Meet Director) regarding weather and this weekend's Classic:

It looks like Saturday AM will be okay, though there may be schools that decide not to travel.

For the 400 IM and 500 Freestyle, we are going to give the option for the finals qualifiers to swim in prelims to have a time. They can’t swim both prelims and finals so they have to make a choice. Please let Classic Central know if any finals qualifiers choose to swim in prelims. If they think they will be able to travel to Keating for Saturday finals, they may certainly swim at night.

The current forecast looks like some snow in the Cincinnati area but not a major amount, so as of now, travel in general should not be a big problem. However each school has their own travel policy.

For Sunday morning, we are giving each site the option to start as late as 11 AM for prelims. This is about as late as we can start and still get results merged for finals.

Should this late start time occur we will probably need to move the start time of finals back also. We would communicate this to you during Sunday prelims.

Weather Update

Here's a statement from Tom Schoborg (Classic Meet Director) regarding weather and this weekend's Classic:

As far as the meet this weekend, because the weather can be dramatically different throughout the geographic area of our sites, we can't make a blanket decision on the meet.

As long as a site is able to open, we will hold prelims at that site. Each school district also has different policies as relates to travel, so the decision to participate will be each school's decision.

Should a site close and the schools assigned there are able to travel, we will do our best to accommodate them at another location. We will not hold up the meet as they travel to a new site, though please give them an opportunity to warmup. I know this will create some logistic issues, but I think we should give everyone an opportunity to swim or dive.

As far as finals, as long as Keating is open, we will swim finals. Should teams not be able to make it to Keating, we will swim with who is there.

Because of scheduling issues we cannot move the meet to a different day.

We will post updates to swimmeet.com as we get them.
