- Performance of the Meet
While this year's Classic saw nine meet records broken, none was more impressive than Michelle Dean's record shattering performance in the Girls 200 Freestyle.
Just when you thought nothing could top Addie Robillard's performace last year in eclipsing a thirty-two year old Classic record, consider Michelle Dean's performance this past Saturday night in the Girls 200 Freestyle.
Michelle's time of 1:47.57 was more than a second faster than Buffy Kreiger's previous record time of 1:48.64 set forty-one years ago in 1985!
The significance of Michelle's performance is best understood in the amount of time that Buffy Kreiger's record remained outstanding and what life was like forty-one years ago.
In 1985, the DOW was 1,500, the average price of a new car was $12,000, the average price of a new house was $85,000 and almost all parents of swimmers competing in this year's Classic were still in elementary school - or not even born!
Forty-one years is a long time and an extremely long time for an athletic record to stand. Breaking such a long-standing record deserves special recognition.

- If you are not able to procure a ticket in either Wave 1 or Wave 2, and wish to attend, come to Keating.
